When I was in Victoria, BC last summer I stumbled upon a little ice cream shop called Cold Comfort. The evil genius, as she’s called by the locals, makes a gluten and diary-free tamarind & cardamom ice cream sandwich and WOW I’d never tasted anything like it. I must have devoured at least two a day while visiting the island and even made a solo bike expedition one afternoon out of pure cardamom ice cream addiction.
In an effort to always look for new ways to drink coffee, the latest favorite way is a cardamom latte, inspired by the little retro ice cream shop. It’s super simple to make and well, isn’t quite an ice cream sandwich, but addicting none the less. (Addicting in an endearing and healthy way, of course. I hope you don’t get really actually addicted to this drink but also that would be really cool in a twisted way.)
Here are the ingredients, the amount of each is to your own personal taste buds.
Steamed Milk* (with foam)
Espresso
Cardamom
Nutmeg
Raw Honey
Swirled Cinnamon over the top
*Milk of your choice (recommended: cow’s milk, almond or hemp)
